Happy weekend everyone!
First, I’m excited and honored to have my ugly mug featured on PRX’s Remix Radio Website yesterday. I have to say, those people over there have been way too nice to me lately- having bought I think four out of my latest five pieces. For someone who feels like I’m just starting out doing this kind of work, it’s really really nice to have professionals in the field listen, even more so for them to say “nice work.” I hope you’ll take a minute to check out some of the other excellent programming they offer on their station, which can be heard both on satellite radio and on their website for free.
In other news, next Wednesday at 6pm I will be speaking on a social media career panel at the New School entitled “Share This” (perhaps named after Deanna Zandt’s excellent book of the same name?) Full details are in the flyer below – c’mon by if you feel like getting the real 411 on jobs in the glamorous world of community and social media.

Were I one of the lucky ones gifted with time for fun on the weekends (instead of school work and RE/Mixed Media Festival meetings, which are now in full swing) I would definitely do one of these:
Tomorrow, March 4th, at midnight the Spectacle Theater in South Williamsburg is screening the rarely-seen 1971 grindhouse classic The Big Dollhouse. This film – about 5 women escaping from a Philippines prison – was Pam Grier’s first role after her walk-on in Russ Meyer’s Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, and as far as I know is not available on DVD. Also, is just one of those movie’s that’s WAY more fun to see at midnight in a room full of people.
On Saturday night, my friend Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky) will be spinning – along with Joro Boro and Brian Degraw – at “Six Planets in Pisces” an Evolver.net Dance Party at:
WIP (Works in Progress)
34 Vandam between Varrick and 6 Ave. NYC
9pm-late, $15.
Proceeds support the Evolver Social Movement
If these six planets happen to align in my favor, maybe I’ll see you at one. Have a great weekend!

Admittedly, I don’t know much about the ISE Cultural Foundation, nor even about their current exhibit: OUROBORUS: The History of the Universe which is having their opening party tonight from 6-8 PM. What I do know is that the exhibit created by video artist Ali Hossaini in collaboration with Sweatshoppe – aka multimedia artists Blake Shaw and Bruno Levy – a couple of geniuses who will, I guarantee, blow you away with what they are doing with video and sound. According to the ISE’s site, the exhibition “tells the history of cosmic evolution by animating more than 30,000 found images in custom software that generates a holographic 3D environment. Compiling and processing the images requires hundreds of hours of effort and attention to detail on every frame of video.”
I had the pleasure of getting a live demo of their video art in Sweatshoppe’s Chelsea studio about a month ago, and I can promise you that whatever they do tonight will blow your mind – and at my age, that’s not something I get to say very often anymore. Incidentally, Sweatshoppe will be also be performing in the RE/Mixed Media Festival on May 30th at Galapagos, so if you miss them tonight, you should definitely do so then.
In the meantime, here’s a vid to whet your appetite – a demo of “video wheat paste” – just one of the cool things they do:
