Reviv

I am resurrecting inc.ongruo.us.  I woke up one day last month – just before Christmas when I had no work or school and found myself with a little time to realize things – and remembered that I had left various abandoned blogs carelessly strewn about the internet.  When I left Oxygen in summer of ‘07 and struck out into the big bad NYC streets looking for work, I started getting paranoid that potential employers would Google me, see that I wrote debaucherous tales in a blog called “Cock Blocked & Loaded” among others and not only not hire me but worst case tell my mom.  So I started separating myself from myself.  Dumping off parts of my personality like extra fuel on a plane that’s going down.  I even went so far as to remove any mention of my name, and posted “this is not my blog” as the last entry of CB&L in Aug 07.  Then I got a job.

I started inc.ongruo.us as my “media blog” – which, in hindsight, is completely retarded because I don’t have enough to say about media to warrant a whole blog.  Well, at least not with the other stuff filtered out.  I completely removed the context of my life, and then missed being able to write about media I actually liked, like Todd Phillip’s GG Allin documentary or The O.C. I wanted to look like a ‘professional’ and talk about serious media topics.  But I started boring the shit out of myself and eventually figured “ya know what? my sometimes fucked-up life is what makes what I think interesting”.  It’s complete convergence – there is no further separting the two.

So yes, I told myself that come 2009 I would go back and pick up my proverbial toys.  Not really a “New Years Resolution” (which I think are dumb – if you need a holiday to make yourself do something positive, then you probably didn’t much want to do that thing in the first place and are setting yourself up to fail), but more of a “I would like to do this, and just after New Year’s would be a convenient time to do so.”  Tonight I spent the evening sucking all the posts from all the old blogs and transfusing them into inc.ongruo.us.  And here we are.

At first I thought I would have nothing to tell you, but then proceded to fill up the back of a photograph (it was the closest thing to write on) with lists of shit that’s going on.

Starting with:  One of my most heroic of heroes, Lawrence Lessig was on The Colbert Report on Thursday, talking about his new book, Remix.  If you missed it on Thrusday, here’s the clip:

Of course, you can’t NOT watch that and go “ok, how long is it gonna take someone to do a ‘remix’ of that interview?”  Answer:  Not that long.  Tonight at 8pm, a fellow named Sam sent this remix to Lessig, who in turn posted it on his blog.  It’s pretty amazing.  I said to a friend of mine, “this could be in a club. People may actually DANCE in a CLUB to a Lawrence Lessig interview!”  It is just so beautiful.

So I’m stopping now, mostly because it’s 430 AM, but I have tons of stuff I need to start telling you guys.  A whole back-of-a-photograph’s worth.   I can’t wait.

[just realizing now how long even this post is.... oh well. Brevity was never my proud.  I'm working on it.]
